The Twelve Chairs
mystical tragifarce in 2 acts by I. Ilf and Y. Petrov
Ostap Bender and Ippolit Matviyovych Vorobyaninov are looking for family jewels, which Vorobyaninov's late mother-in-law hid in one of the dining room chairs. In parallel with them, the priest Fedir, who was revealed this terrible secret during confession, is engaged in the search for treasures.
The story of two swindlers who set off in search of Madame Petukhova's diamonds has been wildly successful with readers and viewers to this day. The name of Ostap Bender, the great combiner, became a household name, and the novel itself was widely quoted and survived hundreds of successful reprints and stage adaptations.
Our theater turns to this material for the first time and, we hope, will place its emphasis on familiar and beloved texts for all. Bright acting, witty moves, directorial discoveries, beautiful music and... an exciting plot await you. Shine!
And suddenly you are sitting on the same chair?!
