Maritza
operetta in 2 acts
Play by Y. Dimitrin
Imre Kalman's incendiary operetta Maritza is considered to be the author's most "Hungarian" work. It is full of national dances, melodies, and characteristic types. It was first staged in 1924 at the An der Wien Theatre and was a huge success. Its Gypsy-Hungarian romance and brightness left no one indifferent.
On the stage of our theatre, Maritza was staged in 1949, 1976 and 1994. In different years, the best artists were involved in this production: E. Dembskaya, O. Glovatskaya, M. Demina, I. Ivanova, V. Frolova, N. Zavgorodnaya, M. Vodianoy, Y. Dinov, M. Udod, V. Frolov, M. Zavgorodny.
"Maritsa" is several love stories with intrigues, unusual outcomes, and subtle humour. How can you deny yourself the pleasure of watching the twists and turns of the plot, enjoying the wonderful music of I. Kalman and the wonderful voices of young talented artists.
